Who We Are and What We Do
Painted Past Productions was established in 2000 as a non-profit organization with the purpose of providing education through entertainment. We use theatre as a visual aide to open up the imagination and make history come to life for our audiences.
We provide many different avenues for this to happen. The most common is historic characters in the schools in the Casper Area. We provide actors dressed in period costumes portraying the lives of several historic characters, both renown as well as little known. Historic figures such as Caspar Collins (for whom the city was named), Lillian Disney (wife of Walt Disney), Emily Post (ettiquete instructor), Martha Washington, Davey Crockett, Guinevere (Queen of Camelot) and many more can be seen visiting a number of schools in Casper throughout the school year. Any of these characters can also make an appearance at your special event as per request. We also put together a children's play each year focusing on a different theme such as bullying or stranger danger and perform it for the children as well.
But if history is not quite your cup of tea, sit back and enjoy a good murder mystery! Painted Past also performs several one act plays and dinner theatres throughout the year with the audience having the challenge of figuring out who the culprit is!
One of our biggest endevors over the past six years has been our annual trip to Europe to perform for the military schools on several of the bases there. Starting in 2006, we have been taking a group to do entertainment for several base schools in Germany and Belgium. All of the funds for this trip are raised throughout the year by the actors, but the rewards are so great!
During the summer you may see some of the citizens from Casper's past stepping out of the shadows of downtown in one of our summer historic downtown tours. In our 1890's tour where you will meet people like Dr. Benson who "cried wolf" one too many times. We also feature the 1920's Sandbar tour. It will take you back to the "Roaring" 20's when the Sandbar was rife with bootleggers, prostitutes and shootings in the streets. The Ghost tour is sure to have you watching your back as we scurry down the alleys of downtown. Find out about early history of the Casper Area on our Fort Caspar Emigrant tour. Visit Casper's own reconstructed fort while hearing the stories of the emigrants and soldiers who passed through the area on the trails or worked at the fort over 160 years ago. On select Sunday afternoons, join us for our historic homes tour as we highlight some of Casper's historic homes in the Historic Wolcott District. Later in the fall, be sure to watch for our annual Cemetary tour as some of Casper's deceased citizens meet you at their own graves to tell you their own personal epitaphs.
Our performance schedule is always changing with the seasons, so call our office at 267-7243 for current shows, or you can drop us an email at PaintedPastHistory@Yahoo.com
